My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease nineteen years ago, she is an incredible woman- smart, fun, funny, not a doormat. Mum has decided to undergo Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery this December and I realized that I cannot live far away from her while she undergoes the surgery. So, at the end of August my mum flew out to Boston and helped me pack up my apartment in the middle of a heat wave and then we hopped into my car and headed west, with my two cats. I applied for a leave of absences at school and I have moved to Minnesota for ten months. This was a hard decision to make but it I feel like it was the right one.
I started this blog as a way to keep my friends and loved ones up to date with what I am doing and with my mum’s progress.
